Cereria Molla 1899

Somebody brought a candle to dinner. Everyone asked where it was from. That’s the whole pitch.
Cerería Mollá is a family candle house in Valencia, Spain, and they have been making candles since 1899. The wax is plant-based, the wicks are cotton, and the glass is hand-painted and recyclable. The scents read like places, not like a candle aisle.
The ones we carry

Santal & Tonka. Cedar oil, tonka and cardamom. Deep, warm, a little mystical.
Bulgarian Rose & Oud. Dark Damascus rose wrapped in smoky oud wood. Velvet, not perfume counter.
Tuberose & Jasmine. Orange blossom, jasmine and narcissus, like an Andalusian courtyard at sunrise.
Black Orchid & Lily. Green and fruity: orchid, lily, tangerine, apricot. Spring in a jar.
Tea & Lemongrass. West Indies lemongrass, green tea and verbena. About fifty hours of a summer morning.
Amber & Sandalwood. Creamy sandalwood and cedar with a bright bergamot finish.
Reed diffuser. Flame-free, essential oil-derived fragrance with rattan reeds, for the room you never remember to light a candle in.
Handmade incense. Bamboo sticks and wood powder, no chemical glue, no colorants. Twenty sticks, about forty-five minutes each.

How to pick one
Warm and woody for winter and for anyone who says they “don’t like floral”: Santal & Tonka or Amber & Sandalwood. Floral without the grandma: Tuberose & Jasmine or Bulgarian Rose & Oud. Clean and bright for a kitchen or an office: Tea & Lemongrass.
