Description
Inspired by the pristine nature of Zeeland, these bowls from the Surface collection have rough textures, intricate colors and unevenness. It’s like having a piece of the coastline on the table. Many of our designs are finished by hand, this may lead to irregularities and is considered a part of the uniqueness of each piece.

The Surface collection takes inspiration from Sergio Herman’s homeland of Zeeland, in The Netherlands – a series of small islands in a constant contest with the ocean, with a landscape etched by tides and flood surges. The materials, colours and glazing techniques interpret the region’s raw nature and unique topography, from its jagged coastlines to its pale sandy dunes, rich green pastures and dark tranquil lakes. “The landscape’s rough textures and beautiful imperfections expose what is real and true. From the deep grey of the mystic North Sea to a scarred and ageing skin, every surface is a symbol of depth. Every surface tells a story”, he explains.
